Flood victims in Oyigbo and Gokhana local government areas may now heave a sigh of relief. This is because the state flood management and prevention committee has now given relief materials to the council authorities to be distributed to victims of flood in the areas Recall that a stakeholder from Oyigbo had during an interview with Nigeria info/wazobia FM threatened to embark on a protest over alleged neglect of the council area by the state flood committee. Speaking shortly after handing over the relief materials to representatives of the two local government areas at the central medical store in Port harcourt, the Vice chairman of the state flood committee and head of service, Iyingi Brown reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to providing timely assistance to communities affected by natural disasters. Responding, the representative of the Oyigbo Local Government Chairman, Michael Onyedinma, and the Chief of Staff of Gokana Local Government Area, Baribor Dee, expressed appreciation to the Rivers state Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Flood Committee for extending help to their communities at a critical time. A total of eight local government areas have now received relief items for flood victims. They include, Ahoada west, Ahoada east, Ogba egbema Ndoni, Abual Odua, Obio akpor, Port Harcourt, Oyigbo and Gokhana.
